Being a trainer, it is my task to ensure the participants are able to achieve the target. Train not just for the sake of finishing the chapters, but to make sure they apply it..(but how can I know?). Well I believe the most important thing is make sure the participant understand and able to portray it back…

For me, as DBA these are some of the important requirement. Don’t call yourself a DBA if the administration part u hardly understand. I’m also not excellent, but I am comfortable with my ability.

Responsibilities:

  • This person will play a key role in insuring the database environment is architected to meet business and IT demands for availability, performance and manageability.
  • The DBA will be responsible for production databases in support of IT applications.
  • Implements standards relative to all aspects of database management
  • Provides solutions mapped to business/user and application development needs
  • Develops technical and organizational specifications for systems
    • Advise on best data coding practices, review critical SQL explain plans and validate database scripts for launch and assist in production launch.
    • Maintain database documentation
    • Responsible for communication and notification to IT support groups and management of all new database requirements and standards.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Optimizing Databases/database servers, Backup/Recovery (point-in-time recovery), Security architecture, Standby, Database clusters, I/O sub-system tuning for best performance (data file layout, RAID configuration etc.), various trace flag settings and performance-tuning of database SQL code (procedures/packages etc.)
